Diablo is a role playing game where can either be a warrior, a sorceror or in-between. You gain points by killing enemies and exploring deeper to Hell. The object is to eventually kill Satan. As RPGs go, this has caught on with a lot of players. But, I find the game utterly annoying. The music, the graphics, as well as the players are all factors. The music, while trying to sound mysterious, is pretty cheesy. In the Town, the central place for getting supplies, there is a guitar or a mandolin strumming. THIS CAN BE VERY ANNOYING! So much in fact, that most players mute the sound and listen to the radio or CDs while playing the game. I think games should have interesting and intriguing music, since it adds the excitement (well in this game there is no excitement) and should fit with the rest of the game. In light of the fact that most players turn off the music, this game's music really sucks. The graphics are good, but you get a bird's eye view of the action the whole time. Personally, I like being in first person when I play these types of games. I must admit the fact that sometimes, hoards of enemies surround you, and being able to see them all, can help you escape. But I generally dislike that view. Now, on to the last part of my review, the players! Now, as lots of players like to get what they cannot have, many players, especially those who play networked games, use a "hack" to boost health, get unlimited weapons and spells. Now, it's fun after you can not beat a Boss or something, to come in with all sorts of stuff to beat them. But, using it to hurt other players and just to feel power, I think, is really stupid. One player I know, got the hack after he played a network game and there was a so-called "Player Killer" playing. Now, my thinking says that if you got the hack for that reason, to get revenge, you should do it. Killing someone who is a nuisance to the game, is ok. But, this person never did go back and kill the Player Killers. Overall, I think it's a pretty cheesy game. It's $20 so it's cheap fun for a lot of people. All the combined factors of bad music, no way to change the view, and annoying players, all make the game unbearable. Rating out of 5 stars? 2 Talk back: Visit My Forum! |
